This website is dedicated to a research project with rural men living in Western Canada. The project is focused on learning more about the diverse backgrounds and experiences of rural men through their photos and stories. We’re hoping that this website will serve as a hub to connect research team members, participants, project advisory committee members, and the community. Have a look through our “About” page to learn more about the project and photovoice methodology. Research participants can use the password-protected “Participants” page to find project documents relevant to their group.
Our research team is largely situated on the traditional lands of Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc within Secwépemc’ulucw. We recognize the original researchers, teachers, learners, and protectors of this land, and extend our gratitude for the opportunity to be able to learn, live, and collaborate on and with this land.
This project connects people and communities from across Western Canada. We would like to extend our recognition to the various other traditional lands in which our team members, participants, and community partners are living and working.
As a research team, many of whom are current/future social workers, we acknowledge the harm that has been done within our profession to Indigenous communities. Eurocentric research has historically been done “on” communities, rather than “with”, which has caused pain and suffering to many marginalized groups. To hear more about our values and commitments to reciprocal research with Indigenous communities please head to our “About” section
